New Opportunities with Export Credit Guarantees in Challenging Markets

Export credit guarantees can make an important contribution to your internationalization strategy in high-risk markets. This option was further expanded and facilitated by a package of measures at the beginning of the year.

The German Federal Government has adopted a comprehensive package of measures to strengthen the German export industry and promote international trade relations. This package focuses specifically on supporting and easing the burden on German exporters, securing industrial value creation, and helping companies to compete successfully in the international area.

The package comprises six measures relating to eligibility for promotion, cover policy, product design, and simplification of procedures. Of particular note is the new "flex&cover" concept, which no longer considers the origin of goods as a subsidy criterion, but rather the "German footprint" of a company. This better reflects the relevance of German exporters in the global value chain. Moreover, the improved Shopping Line Cover creates various incentives for importers abroad to expand their supplier base in Germany. This makes it easier for German companies to access international procurement programs and major projects.
